Spectral analysis of flute organ whistles and their comparison
Sommer, Tomáš ; Michálková Slimáčková, Jana (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work is focused on the problems of spectral analysis of flutes stops in organ pipes. The first part of this work is about terminology of organ pipes. This theoretical part is also focused on the problem of harmonic analysis with the use of mathematical signal processing methods, which allows this analysis. The second part of this work deals with measuring methods of specific organs and acquiring sound samples and their evaluation and spectrum description.
Analysis of the spectrum of recorders from different materials and with other different parameters
Kaplan, Václav ; Mojdl, Edgar (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis research focuses on the phenomena and the properties that affect the very origin of the tone in the recorder and the subsequent character of the frequency spectrum. These include the dimensions, material and mechanical properties. There are several soprano and alto recorders measured in this thesis. The research is enriched by working with hand-made cylindrical samples and a brief comparison of three exotic flutes. The conclusion is a comparison table and the final summary.
The comparison of acoustic properties of guitars from the same product line
Trávníčková, Hana ; Indrák, Michal (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work is dealing with acoustic features of Furch guitars. In theoretical introduction is possible to find an information about basic characteristics of a tone. Following chapter about acoustic guitars is dealing even with mostly used types of woods for their manufacturing. In special chapter are described spectres of signals, LPC analysis, sound radiation of instruments and Chladni figures. Mentioned terms have been evaluated from measurements and are available in practical part of this work also including description of implementation of the measurement. As an output of this work is a comparison of acoustic features of measured guitars, their colours and modes.
Determining the place of origin of interpretation based on the music signal parameterization
Brada, Tomáš ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Kiska, Tomáš (advisor)
Presented thesis summarizes existing findings in the problematics of music recording comparison, in the field of so-called Music Information Retrieval. One of the goals of the thesis is to perform analysis of multiple musical renditions from the point of view of the tempo, dynamics and sound timbre. From the obtained data, such musical parameters will be chosen which exhibit the biggest potential to differentiate the origine of the individual renditions.
Sound records comparison using timbre features
Miklánek, Štěpán ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Kiska, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis deals with research of musical features, which are describing music recordings relating to timbre. First chapter deals with historical development and modern approach in a discipline called Music Information Retrieval (MIR), further there is a description of music processing from the perspective of music theory and digital signal processing. Then followed by a description of signal pre-processing. This part is very important when retrieving features from music recordings. In chapter concerned about retrieving features there are summarized all common features used when retrieving information from musical recordings with main concern to timbral features. A database of music recordings and a feature retrieving system is introduced. The last chapter deals with individual analysis of timbral features.
The Analysis of impedance properties of the bridge in string instruments
Němec, Petr ; Nop, Patrik (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
It is a known fact that stringed instruments bridge makes an important part of "acoustic circuit" of their bodies. Bridge acts as an acoustic filter which has the biggest impact on 2 – 6 kHz band and high frequency bands. To find the connection between the impact of a specific acoustic and mechanical properties of a bridge and acoustical behavior of the entire instrument remains as a matter of further exploration. Aim of this thesis is to find the mentioned relations of a chosen materials in an accordance to their mechanical properties within a full range of materials with common bridge properties. The experiments are designed to determine mechanical and acoustic properties of chosen materials which are then used to fabricate bridges. Subsequently the acoustical behavior of instruments with chosen bridges is determined. Based upon these findings we propose specific solutions and suggest further research.
Analysis of Spectral Density and Directional Radiation of Baroque, Modern, and Plastic Trombone
Cibuľa, Marek ; Otčenášek,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis is focused on spectral and directivity analysis of three types of trombones - baroque, modern and plastic and their experimental measurement. It describes the way of a measurement realization with microphone field used for recording and technical realization of signal processing. It discusses relationships between material, mechanical dimensions and final timbre of sound.

The Analysis of spectrum and polar pattern of French horn with different mouthpieces and different elastic resonators
Holba, Stanislav ; Ketner, Zbyněk (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the French horn and adjusting mouthpieces for this instrument. The work briefly describes the French horn, its structure, production materials, history and development, and the description of the timbre possibilities. Furthermore, the work explains the use of the fast Fourier transform algorithm in the context of analysis. A list of characteristics features of individual tools and mouthpieces used for analysis follows. The work then compares selected tone samples of natural and valve French horns from various manufacturers, their harmonic spectra, and directional characteristics. For specific tones, a list of chosen psychoacoustic quantities is given. The obtained values are linked with the mechanical characteristics of individual instruments and mouthpieces.
Spectrum analysis of the violin
Hanzálek, Pavel ; Smékal, Zdeněk (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work focuses on the problems of sound spectrum analysis and directional characteristics of the violin. The beginning of the work deals with the development of the violin, generally about timbre and directional characteristics. The theoretical part also deals with different types of sound spectra and LPC analysis on general. The practical part deals with practical tasks of work such as a description of the application created in MATLAB for examination of the time spectrum of tones, FFT spectra, formants by LPC analysis and display of directional characteristics. It also deals with the describing the methods, the process of sensing and measuring two different violins with different types of strings and age of corpus.
